I was at a holiday party for a group of friends of mine that are in the medical field. They have a tradition where they all draw names and give each other a set of scrubs. With scrubs coming in so many patterns it is a fun party. They felt this was a way that they could save money because they need the scrubs anyway and this way it is fun as well. To see their faces as one by one they went around the room and opened their gifts was so much fun. It was exciting even though you knew they were scrubs just to see the pattern that was chosen for that particular person. There are so many brands of scrubs like cherokee workwear scrubs, la rose scrubs and peaches scrubs that give people choices on styles and patterns it makes wearing scrubs more fun. When you are in a doctors office or any medical situation it is fun to watch the different prints on the nurses scrubs just to relieve some of the pressure. My children and I were in a local family restaurant and could not help but over hear a conversation. The friend that was talking to their father asked the man’s child if she knew how old he was. The child quickly said I know you are older then my father. The friend asked how she knew and the child answered because he had more tree rings around his eyes. After we all laughed I noticed the friend looking in the mirror making the comment,”I hope they make eye wrinkle cream for men.”

If you think about it the world is an amazing place. We are so determined to communicate with each other that we design devices smaller and smaller for conveniences like cell phones and netbooks. The funny thing is we are in a room full of people texting and communicating with people that are not in the room. Somehow that just rings strange to me. I was at lunch and was sitting at a table watching this phenomenon when a girl came up and sat beside another lady. The girl sat there for quite a few moments but the lady was engrossed in a conversation on her laptop. When the girl said something to her she jumped almost dropping her laptop. She explained that she did not see her and she uses her laptop to talk to her friends while at lunch the young girl responded that she used her lunch for making new friends! They now have lunch together everyday and have became friends. I wonder if we put down our personal devices for a few minutes everyday would we notice more around us. Of course then we would want to text our friends to tell them what we saw so I guess it would not work!

As I sat at the mall wondering what to do with the most difficult people on my gift list I started noticing that there was one thing that everyone that passed me had it common. Most of them were on their phones either texting or talking. I love multi-tasking and I think that this was multi-tasking at it’s finest. This observation brought up a thought of the perfect Christmas gift. If someone loves their dog and you are stuck on a gift something that relates to their dog is a great gift. If someone loves coffee then you can take their gift that direction. It only makes sense that as much as people love their iphones there must be a huge market for iphone accessories! This observation has saved me so much time on my wondering from one store to the next. To think all I did was sit down and stop my search paying attention to those around me!
