There are so many words that we use every day or in come cases words we have not heard in a long time that we do not know what their original meanings are. Take the word breeches. I did not know until recently that the word actually refers to pants worn while riding horses. Breeches are actually those pants you see professional horse riders wear as they do fox hunting or performing at shows. I have heard that word so many times growing up. I think when my grandmother used it she was referring to pants in general. I am pretty sure if I were ever wearing a pair of those out with my friends when I was a child I would remember it or my friends would not let me forget!
