If you have been in the market for eyeglasses then you have experienced what so many of us have and that is sticker shock. I have a family of eyeglass wearers so we were surprised at how much it all added up to. After that experience I knew there had to be somewhere that understood the needs of those that wear glasses and did not want to sell the family car to buy them. I read an article about Zenni Optical. To me that tells me how important their customer service department is to them. They have to have a satisfied customer to get a good review. That tells me each sale is important and they have confidence in their products.

When all of the flu scare was going around people began getting really pro active about not getting sick. One thing that I think is a positive that came out of it was the disinfectant wipes that our grocery store now puts out by the buggies so we can wipe our carts off before we shop. Of course the germs are also all through the grocery store as well. The germs are on everything we pick up,too. We often wipe off our groceries before we put them away at home. My wife wipes off the tops of cans before she uses the can opener on them. You know how the lid sometimes gets into the food in the can as the top cuts away? You never know how many people have had their hands on that can before you. It is just a good idea to be proactive and use common sense when ever you are dealing with something as important as your health.

We were standing in line one day for what seemed like 10 minutes. We thought they must have been counting their cash drawer. For the first few minutes the long line began to talk among themselves and then they started discussing the current situation and began to get irritated. With one line open in the entire store people began getting very vocal. Then the rudeness came out. My wife and myself just watched as people’s characters began to show. When the line began to move again quite a while later each person took their turn showing their agitation to the cashier. So much so that another worker felt coming to stand beside her as she rang up each customer might give her confidence as she took the brunt of the aggression. When my wife and I finally got our things to the register the once happy young cashier had a very worn and frustrated look all her own. I told her not to worry that this was only one moment in time and when we all left the next group of customers will not be so angry. She then tells us that what actually happened was her receipt printer stopped printing and the man insisted on a receipt for a candy bar and a coke because he was on a business trip! Then I have to admit I was a little irritated. All of this could have been avoided if that customer would have let her check out the line and when we were all gone she could have fixed the printer and none of this had to happen. I hope he got his $2.00 returned to him for his business expense. It just reminded me of what those poor cashiers have to go through.

When you are sitting in a doctor’s office you can not help but notice the surroundings. I have noticed more doctors are using aquariums to help their patients pass the time. As my mother has aged I am spending more and more time in one doctor’s office and then another. The one thing that I wish more doctors would pay attention to is their office furniture! After we have spent a great deal of time in the waiting room we have gotten to know the furniture pretty well. There are some doctors offices that we actually know to bring a cushion or she will not be able to wait. Aquariums are nice but so is comfortable seating for the elderly.

We have a neighbor that just loves to take his Jeep out on the weekends. He always comes back dirty and spends the next day cleaning the mud from his joy ride the day before. He had a Mopar performance parts box on his driveway so I knew he was about to install something else on his Jeep. He was putting on tail light protectors because as he put it he was tired of changing them after they broke. After our conversation I find out there are actually a group of Jeep owners that run the mud hills every Saturday! He said they have a blast and they keep the parts companies in business!

There is nothing that can make you feel more tired then to suffer from allergies. If you are an allergy sufferer then you understand how much you can suffer through allergy season. There are things being done to help allergy sufferers. There are better medications then ever and there is also allergy bedding. As the season comes around for our children to graduate we think about graduation gifts. After thinking I need to get a watch for our child that has spent his life preparing for this moment I think about my wife. She has been by her side through all of the art projects and term papers!She was there with them as they forgot a homework assignment until we were all in bed. Teachers meetings and field trips she never missed one. She has also prepared for this event since our children were born. I found a Citizen Eco Drive watch that I think they would both like to have. It would be something to signify the time that they have spent preparing for this moment. It would also be a symbol for the fact that I will love them both for all time. I know this is the perfect gift for the perfect occasion.

Being out of school for summer has long gone, but the memories live on. I can remember playing army with friends in the woods. This is the kind of play that we drug on for hours. We used walky-talkies to communicate with each other. Those were some fun times when you did not have any thing to worry about other than play. Since then the technology has change in communication with portable phones with ear pieces that could be used like tactical headsets, which police and military use in the field now to communicate with each other during their jobs assignments. Back then hands free communication would have been cool while using paint ball guns to attach your enemy. With these kind of advanced technology tools would have been good fun. That is ok, we managed to use squirt guns and pine cones to get our pretend affect of playing battle in our wooded domain. Sometimes using an imagination can be better than using technology, well maybe just sometimes. The point was just to have fun, no matter with tools you have to make it happen.

I think it is important to give everything you do in life a personal touch. I like to have something that I have done to be done well and to have that something extra. Many of the people that I am friends with have the same philosophy and exercise it in everything they do. A friend of ours was getting married and decided he wanted to get married on the beach. He sold the idea to his so to be new wife by describing the sunset and the blue ocean. It was not a hard sell. His wife thought this was a great idea especially since they are both avid surfers. They did not tell anyone at first they let their wedding invitations do the talking for them. They sent unique wedding invitations that had a beach scene on them and read shorts and Hawaiian shirts only! We loved it. I do not think anybody was surprised. I have enjoyed many weddings but this was one of the best weddings we have attended yet. There was so much laughing and beach games it did not even feel like a wedding but more a large group of friends getting together. We thought it was such a great idea to put a unique idea in your wedding. We had a traditional wedding with just a few people. If I had it to do again I may have put a little more flare to it. After all if you are lucky then you only do it once so you got to make it count! Maybe we will renew our vows on our 50th anniversary on the beach.
