Until recently my job as a database administrator was very hands own with managing the data and access, its sorting and speed is was was most important to the end user. The correct data that they wanted was next. Well if the data is not correct, speed does not matter. What has changed is the creation of database application development tools that give you quicker ways get data pulled from the database to create a custom application for a client. These custom application development projects are what keeps an IT department moving in the form of custom reports and these custom applications. This is the kind of IT work I like to do on a daily basis. These development tools have many a database manager’s life easier.

The hard work can be the database application development to the master set of data. But will some of the new database development tool devices you can get results in days and not weeks like when it was hands on. The production has increase with these tools.

The database is the life blood of a company. The data, the ability to extract it in a quick manner, reports to improve positions and the ability to pull the old history at any given time is very important to the running of a business. Since cloud computing it is easier to spread out your work force to do your data and billing work. Yeas, even the IT work. When we run a business we need things such as Royal Imaging document imaging so we can stay ahead of the tasks at hand. We have many things we need images of for many reasons. The nature of our business means we are scanning documents in vast amounts so having the right equipment is very important. This time of year is very busy as well so having dependable equipment is important as well. It can put everything at a total stand still if our equipment goes down. Fortunately we have only had that problem one time and that was enough for us to appreciate our up time! Things happen fast around our office so we have to react even faster and that is what makes a fast paced business so much fun.

Meetings, travel and conferences

When we think about how things were done just a few years ago in the world of business it shocks me we got done all that we did. I remember going from one destination after another to have meetings. I remember being off of a project for a valuable amount of time for meetings and travel time. All projects would stop and everyone would hop a plan and go to our central office to have our meeting. We would then spend the night if it was late or if not we would head back to our projects to start back the next day. Translation is time lost everywhere. Now when we have a Video conference we get the information we need and everyone can attend the meeting. We use a minimal amount of time with Web conference and when we are done everyone gets right back to work. We are all pumped up and filled with information. No one has a feeling of being on our own after we have a Video conference. We have saved more time on projects because we were able to have a quick meeting that sometimes changed our project direction. That saves time in two ways. The way things were done years ago worked for that time but today I can not imagine business without Video Conferences.

In today’s world it is hard to imagine anyone that does not have internet services. It is the way we are all connected. The world seems like a much smaller place when you are online. The internet plays a vital role in many things we do from our banking to our entertainment. Many of us are social online as well which gives our internet service another line of importance. We use our internet to do research on as well. For us running our business all relies on the internet. Our kids games are played online as well. For each of us our internet connection has great importance for different reasons. Many people have dial up service on their phones. They can have dial-up internet as well. There is a company that we found online that offers all of these services including dsl for a more affordable price then you can find most places. They start of at $9.95 a month for their services. That is a far cry from what other companies charge. When we first moved to our new home we did not have internet connection for a week. It felt as though we were cut off from the world. After doing without it for that period we learned how important it is to us. With the price that this company charges even families on the tightest of budgets will be able to afford being connected.
