I think the old standard joke for men’s gifts use to be not another tie. That has certainly changed over the years. Now mens ties are a gift that many men look forward to receiving. I have gotten many ties that I have not seen before because there are so many ties with little differences in patterns so they all seem a little different from each other. I like to have ties that are a little different but not a conversation piece! I have a friend of mine that loves really crazy ties and somehow he finds them in no short supply. He said that he does not think that he has worn the same crazy tie twice! Can you even imagine the size of his tie rack because he has been wearing them for years?

We have been to so many birthday parties through the years but one party a few years ago introduced us to something that made a huge impact on our lives. We went to a paintball birthday party. We had not played before this party. We watched as the kids played and we found ourselves really enjoying it. As we fathers were watching on the side lines we decided that the older kids would enjoy this sport as well as the little ones maybe even more. Little did we realize that that paintball party would led into weekend get togethers for the teenagers as well as the dads to play paintball! We grab our paintball guns and play twice a month. We started off with just a few of us but we have graduated into a large group through the years. We enjoy it so much and so does everyone that watches. Our wives are cheering for us and the first one out has to buy dinner for the last one in. It is just good fun. Besides good fun it is great exercise.

A bunch of us got together and went to a football game. We were so excited that we got the tickets. We all put on our nfl t shirts and headed out the door not realizing that we were going to have the most fun ever. We cheered and hollered through the entire game and a great time. The stadium was full of energy and so were we. Everyone in the stadium felt like it was them single handedly that brought our team the win that day. By the time the game was over we were really tired and each of us took turns driving home. You could tell our age because we all got a big laugh at the fact that we took naps in the car on the way home! That part we do not usually tell!

We put a lot of work into our websites from the design to the content. Sometimes though we do not get the traffic that we thought we would. Our little neighborhood had big dreams for the empty lot across the street from the church. The land belonged to the church as the church wanted the community to get together and help to get a playground for the youth in our area. It took a couple of years to get the funds together and a lot of bakes sales but we did it. Nothing was more exciting then to see the Playground Equipment as it was delivered and then installed. The dads were all hands on and even the teenagers did their part. The little ones kept the cold drinks coming for the parents and when it was all done we have a beautiful park that everyone is so proud of complete with a fish pond and lots of trees. The center attraction has to be the playground equipment. We have some fun things for the really little ones and then there are things for the older ones to do as well. Our newest neighbor actually had a tennis court put in and we all could not have been happier. It is a great place for families to go and enjoy the great outdoors and there is always something going on at the park. We all take turns keeping it mowed and in working order which just enforces the pride that we all have for our neighborhood project!

There are always things to be thankful for but this time of year and in this heat there is one thing that is on top of the list. We all love our Air conditioning. There is nothing more like music to our ears then the sound of our AC unit as she goes on and off doing what she does and keeping our home cool and comfortable. Sometimes we do not think about how comfortable it is in our businesses or homes because we just expect the AC to do it’s job. But with the heat at this extreme the fact that the AC’s are working so hard to keep us comfortable with it so extremely hot outdoors is on everyone’s mind all of the time. I can not tell you how many conversations I have heard with people talking about the heat and the fact that we are saved by our AC’s. When anyone comes in from outside they verbally are thankful for the AC working so hard. I am guilty as well. That is why knowing if something happens to our AC’s that their is someone there to call to get us back in the cool again.

There are so many things out there that can hurt us. But do not be nieve in thinking that everything unsafe is outside of your home. There can be dangers in your home as well. If you have an older home you could have lead paint on your walls and you not even know about it. Lead paint causes serious health hazards for adults and children. If you are concerned there are epa certified lead test kits so you can test your walls and make certain they are safe. It is frightening to know that there could be something in our own homes that could harm us but knowledge is power and finding out so you can correct the problem is the safest thing to do.

After going on a home tour we decided that we were going to make a few changes to our home. We started in the kitchen and worked through the bathrooms at a quick pace. We only had to change the paint colors and the lighting fixtures. Now we have been looking for just the right ceiling fans for our bedrooms and we have found one from Minka Aire that looks like it will add just the character that we are looking for to create that look in the room. I did not realize how important little touches can be but every decision that we have made has drastically changed the look of the rooms. My wife keeps telling me that the devil is in the details and she has proven that to be true.

There is so much information that is available now to help us make wiser decisions about our health. We can read online or watch shows on TV that discuss the benefits of using organic products whenever possible. This information has sent anything organic into a sought after product. The foods we eat are no exception. People are now realizing with the information that we are provided that organic foods are better for our bodies and there is proof to back that information up. The same is true for the foods we feed our pets as well. There are healthy cat treats that you can give your cats to provide them with a treat but a healthy one. We all love our pets and want the best for them. We want them to live long and healthy lives so they can continue to be our faithful companions for years to come. Being able to have access to information that will help us to live better lives is a benefit that living in the world of technology has afforded us. Taking advantage of the information we are provided is a bonus for anyone that is wanting to live a healthy lifestyle for us and our pets.

As we grow up we are taught different things from how to wear out clothes to how we cut our hair. Our teaching is also and important part of our lives. I still remember being taught the history of world from the western culture point of view. Over time I have found that I have to rethink ever thing that was taught to me, I have learned a lot of new facts since I had to re-research every thing I was taught. One of my favorite is the lucky rabbits foot, it looks cool on the key chain but cannot remember when it actually brought me luck. It is fun spend years relearning history, you find out knowledge that was not taught you for some reason or another. Most are do to the times and who is in charge of the country at the time, or something political that the ruling force was for at the time and wanted to keep this as their secret knowledge. I know this sounds a little crazy, me too, but once you research your knowledge and the facts actually change it will fire you more to re-learn everything you were taught.
